Design Inspiration for Your Residential Remodel

If a space is designed well you’ll feel good. If you feel good life just flows better. Who doesn’t want that!?

Take a peek below to find design inspiration all around you!

Go Outdoors

Step outside and reconnect with nature! Let the environment inspire your color palette. Do you crave the calming blues of a beachside paradise, or find yourself energized by the verdant greens and earthy browns of a forest? Perhaps a harmonious blend of both calls to you. Notice the colors that resonate with you most in this space. Nature's spectrum holds the key to a palette that reflects your personal style, after all, every color originates from the world around us!

Art

Let’s say you find a piece of art at the store, online, or in a gallery and you know you need it in your home. This is the jumping-off point for a whole room design. Let’s take the picture to the left as an example.

If we imagine this picture in a living room you could look to pull out some of the blues on the ground for pillows, window coverings, or even paint colors throughout the room. If you want the room to feel moodier you should look to incorporate the darker blues/grays and if you want the room to feel brighter and airy you should look to pull in the lighter colors within the painting.

You could also consider incorporating some of the textures within the picture for your space - such as wicker, rattan, and wood - to create repetition and movement throughout the room.

Travel

When designing with travel inspiration, focus on the elements that resonate most with you. Was it the warmth of the Tuscan sun on a terracotta floor? The intricate patterns of a Moroccan tilework? Draw on these details to create a space that reflects your personal travel narrative.

This doesn't require a complete overhaul. A strategic accent wall painted in a color reminiscent of the Aegean Sea, or a collection of woven baskets that evoke a faraway bazaar, can be enough to infuse your space with a touch of wanderlust.

Books

As you delve into a captivating story, don't just get swept up in the plot – pay attention to the emotional atmosphere the author creates. Does the narrative evoke tranquility, like a peaceful meadow bathed in golden light? Or is it filled with the vibrant energy of a bustling marketplace? Capture this mood by incorporating similar design elements into your home. Think calming neutrals and natural textures to recreate the serenity of the meadow, or embrace bold patterns and statement pieces to channel the energy of the marketplace.

But don't let these inspiring details fade! Keep a notebook or create a dedicated Pinterest board specifically for design ideas gleaned from your reading. Jot down descriptions of furniture styles, color palettes, and overall ambiance. Clip images that resonate with you. This curated collection will be a valuable resource when it comes time to plan your own interior design project, allowing you to translate the fictional world's essence into a functional and stylish space within your own home.

If you’re still shaking your head and you don’t know where to go from here you may consider working with a design virtually or in-person to help build out your space.
